Brett Floyd earned his bachelors in music from Indiana University, and his masters in music from the University of South Carolina. Brett is currently working on a graduate fellowship and finishing his DMA at the University of South Carolina.
He has performed in masterclasses with David Russell, Roland Dyens, Scott Tennant, Sharon Isbin, Ricardo Cobo, Bruce Holzman, Hubert Kappel, Jose Lascano, Robert Trent, Christopher Berg, William Yelverton, Ernesto Bitetti, Lily Afshar, and others
Brett has performed with the Indiana University Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Indiana University Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Floyd has also performed on numerous performing arts series, including The Candlelight Concert Series at Bruton Parish in Williamsburg, VA, The UUC of Charleston, SC Candlelight Series, Midday Music in Aiken, SC, Wednesdays at Trinity Cathedral in Columbia, SC, and Tuesday’s Music Live in Augusta, GA. Other performances include the Knoxville, TN Guitar Society Concert Series, Classical Revolution DC, and the Music in Great Places Series in St. Louis. He has also performed and taught masterclasses in guest artist concert series at George Mason University, Indiana State University, Erskine College, Anderson University, and the Rosario Guitar Festival. He has also been featured on ETV Radio South Carolina and NPR's internationally broadcasted Classical Guitar Alive.
Brett has taught guitar at Indiana University, The University of South Carolina, USC Upstate, and has twice been the graduate assistant to Christopher Berg at the University of South Carolina.
Brett plays a 2007 Dake Traphagen guitar and uses Dogal strings, ErgoPlay supports, Karura, Cases and DoMatch tea. He resides in Columbia, SC with his wife and son.
